French Toast

 

French toast is a Sunday morning Kiwi favourite. Have you ever stopped to consider how many calories are in your standard French toast? Averaging at over 600 calor­­ies (majority of them coming from sugar), this breakfast is not something you want to consume on a regular basis. A few minor tweaks and here we have a French toast that everyone can enjoy, everyday!

Ingredients:

  • Eggs
  • Bread
  • 50g berries
  • Sugar-free maple syrup
  • Cinnamon
  • 5g coconut oil

DIRECTIONS: In a bowl mix together eggs and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Soak the bread in the egg mixture for 3-4 minutes each side or until soaked through Heat a good non-stick pan with coconut oil and cook until golden. Top with your choice of fruit and a drizzle of maple syrup

INGREDIENTS:

  • CARBS – Farrahs Wrap
  • PROTEIN – Grilled Chicken or Beef or Vegetarian sausage.
  • VEGETABLES – Red onion + Capsicum + Mushrooms + Olives ( Any vegetables will do the trick ) Sliced thinly.
  • Cheese ( if you are allowed ) 
  • BARKERS – Plum sauce 

DIRECTIONS: Pre-heat oven to 200deg on fan bake. Thinly slice your protein > season > and grill until cooked. Take your wrap for your base and spread your sauce of choice onto the base and layer with your vegetable and protein toppings. Place in oven for 5 minutes > pull out when crispy.

Protein Pancakes

INGREDIENTS

  • The allocated amount of oats
  • 150g liquid egg whites
  • 1  1/2 serves of MusclePharm whey protein
  • ½ t baking powder
  • 2 t stevia
  • 2 t vanilla essence
  • 100g light Watties peaches or 50g berries (per serve)
  • Walden Farms calorie free pancake syrup

DIRECTIONS

1. Blend oats until they resemble a fine powder.
2. Add egg whites, baking powder, stevia and vanilla essence and blend into a smooth batter.
3. Cook in a non-stick frying pan for 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden.
4. Top with Watties light peaches or berries, and a splash of Walden Farms calorie free pancake syrup.
