Plant based white sauce


  • Spray oil 
  • 1 brown onion 
  • ½ carrot, grated
  • Cannellini beans – as per protein portion from plan 
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 3 tsp nutritional yeast 
  • ½ tsp garlic powder 
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp apple cider vinegar (Optional) 
  • Olive oil or buttery spread- as per portion from plan (optional)
  • Optional: Pinch of tumeric, thyme, rosemary etc 
  • Salt and pepper to taste



Fry onion and carrot in a pot using spray oil until golden and carrot cooked. Add herbs & spices and cook until fragrant

Drain and rinse beans (if canned) and add to pot along with all other ingredients and blend with stick blender (can also be transferred into a blender). Continue to cook until serving temperature is reached adding water if a thinner sauce is desired. Season with salt and pepper. 

If wanting to add vegetables into sauce e.g. broccoli, cauliflower, carrot or frozen vege, add after blending. 

Serve with vegetables and pasta as per carb portion on plan.
